Due to its installation characteristics, colored stone metal tiles are highly adaptable to various roof structures. They can be easily installed on concrete, steel, and wooden structures. However, perfect installation of colored stone metal tiles on the roof requires strict adherence to the construction process, especially regarding the installation of battens, which must follow these points:
1) The spacing of the battens should be determined by calculation based on the size of the flat tiles and the length of the slope. The general spacing of the horizontal battens is 280~350mm. Install the battens while pouring the protective layer on the waterproof layer. The spacing of the horizontal battens can be determined according to the actual tile size. For example, for Nuo'an colored stone metal tiles, the batten spacing can be set to 350mm~380mm.
2) For the first batten at the eaves, ensure the tile head overhangs by 50~70mm; the first row of battens must be firmly fixed, and the interlocking length of the tile heads and tails of the upper and lower rows of flat tiles should be 50~70mm; for the ridge, the top two battens on the two slopes should ensure that after hanging the tiles, the distance between the two tile tails is such that when covering the ridge tiles, the width of the ridge tile overlapping the tile tail is not less than 40mm on each side.
3) The cross-section of the battens is generally 30mm×40mm, and the length is generally not less than 2~3 meters. The battens must be straight (especially the top edge), nailed firmly, without any omissions, and the joints should be staggered to ensure the straightness of the first tile at the rafter. Nail the battens from the rafter to the ridge, and check the consistency of the batten spacing during nailing. To ensure accuracy, measure the batten spacing accurately at both ends of a slope and nail the battens along a stretched line.
4) Construction of the felt layer or heat insulation layer on the base layer: The felt should be nailed parallel to the ridge from bottom to top; the eaves felt should cover the top edge of the eaves board by 10~20mm; the longitudinal lap of the felt should be no less than 100mm, and the transverse lap should be no less than 150mm. The lap should be firm and not curled; the transverse laps of the upper and lower layers should be staggered by more than 500mm; the felt should be laid flat and straight, and the felt surface must be complete without any missing edges or holes.
5) Select high-quality cedar wood for battens, 30mm×40mm. The wood should be treated with preservatives after arriving on site, such as brushing with asphalt or soaking in preservative oil. Untreated wood is strictly prohibited.
