PVC pipe materials have good chemical corrosion resistance; they have self-extinguishing and flame-retardant properties; good aging resistance; good electrical properties; smooth inner walls, small inner wall surface tension, making it difficult to form scale, and fluid transport capacity is 43.7% higher than that of cast iron pipes; lighter than steel and iron pipes, easy to flare, bond, and bend, and the installation workload is 1/2 that of steel pipes, etc. These characteristics make it widely used in various construction projects.
The main unqualified items of PVC pipe materials are density and tensile yield strength. Density and tensile yield strength are the main quality indicators of hard polyvinyl chloride pipe materials. Unqualified density will lead to unqualified mechanical properties of PVC pipe materials, and unqualified tensile yield strength will make the pipe materials easy to break. The reason for the unqualified products is mainly that the manufacturers excessively reduce costs, adding a large amount of calcium powder and recycled waste materials, leading to a decline in quality.

1. For the most common white PVC rainwater pipes, the color should be milky white and uniform, and both the inner and outer walls should be relatively smooth but have a slightly tough feel. Inferior PVC rainwater pipes are either snow-white or yellowish, and are harder. Some have uneven colors, some have particularly smooth outer walls, while the inner walls appear rough, sometimes with pinholes or small holes.
2. The toughness of PVC rainwater pipes is a very critical indicator. For pipes with high toughness, when we saw them into narrow strips and try to bend them 180°, if they break with one bend, it indicates that the toughness is very poor and the brittleness is high; if it is difficult to break, it indicates that it has toughness, and the more force required to break the pipe during bending, the better the strength and generally good toughness. Finally, observe the fracture (excluding the saw cut), the finer the fracture, the better the homogeneity, strength, and toughness of the pipe material.
3. The impact resistance of PVC rainwater pipes can also be roughly judged by a simple method. Choose an environment where the room temperature is close to 20℃, and use a hammer to hit a 200mm long pipe section (for a 110mm pipe). For good pipe materials, it is difficult to break it with human force in one hit. (The thicker the pipe, the greater the bearing capacity).
