The University of Macau's Hengqin campus is located on Hengqin Island, a place where East and West meet, mountains and sea blend, and which lies across the water from Macau's Taipa Island. It is a modern and stylish institution of higher learning with a unique character.
Five years ago, during an inspection tour of Macau, President Xi Jinping announced the central government's decision to develop Hengqin Island. Subsequently, the University of Macau's Hengqin campus project was launched as a landmark project of Guangdong-Macau cooperation under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework. Five years on, a modern, garden-style campus stands before us.
The University of Macau's Hengqin campus has eight residential colleges. These colleges provide dormitories, gyms, libraries, and dining halls, fostering a learning and living environment where students from different disciplines and year levels interact. The campus is impressive in its scale, particularly the roof design, which utilizes a new type of environmentally friendly colored stone metal tile.
It is worth mentioning that this metal tile was supplied by a large-scale building materials company from the province. There's a little story behind this project's successful completion.
When selecting roof tiles, the project manager for the campus learned about many different metal tiles online. After careful consideration, they ultimately chose Nuo'an Building Materials Company.
